Hi Everyone,

I just listened to Sen. Canady who came out to refute and of course distorted what Sen. John Conyers said in regard to not wanting to make this impeachment enquiry into a fishing expedition by having it open ended as the republican members want. Sen. Conyers asked that they get an answer from Starr on whether he has any information regarding Whitewater or any of the "Gates", and if he doesn't, then he should come out and say so. Well Sen. Canady stated that the republican members think they should be able to expand the impeachment hearings to include any information that anyone may come up with! This made my ears perk up, because I had just bumped into a conservative site while looking for information about the right wing. What I found was a copy of a "report" Judicial Watch sent to the Judiciary Committee!! It appears Sen. Canady and the other repulican's on the committe are setting the stage to look into the information they received from Judicial Watch! I haven't heard anything about this "report" in any of the news media reports, has anyone else? Had I not bumped into this site - I'd have never known about it. Angie

Here is a copy of that report and the site I found it at:

Judicial Watch Sends Clinton Evidence to Hill

(CNS) Congress today received another report "detailing substantial and credible evidence" of possibly impeachable offenses of President Bill Clinton. But today's report did not come from Independent Counsel Ken Starr, instead it was sent from the independent group, Judicial Watch.

The Government watchdog organization sent a 145 page report with 2,000 pages of evidence it uncovered during its twenty lawsuits concerning the Clinton-Gore administration. Some of the litigation involved issues such as more than 900 FBI files the administration collected against Clinton's political enemies allegedly with the help of former White House security chief Craig Livingstone.

The report also includes information related to the alleged sale of trade-mission seats to in exchange for political contributions. Judicial Watch has implicated a number of Clinton Administration political appointee in the matter including former Commerce Secretary Ron Brown who was killed in airplane crash in Croatia while on a trade mission.

Judicial Watch sent copies of the report to the House leadership including Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA), House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX) and House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-TX). The Judicial Watch report to Congress is not covered under a specific law. Spokesman Dan Michaelis told CNS he knows of no precedent for such a report, but that Judicial Watch felt it was necessary for the Congress and the public to know what it knows. Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman said that after reading the report "no longer will Clinton-Gore operatives be able to claim that the scandals only involve sex." In a statement announcing today's report, the organization endeavored to put sex and criminal charges into perspective as they relate to the scandals surrounding the Clinton Presidency. "In fact, the Lewinsky scandal, however serious, is minor compared with the evidence of likely high crimes and misdemeanors which Judicial Watch has found in Filegate, Chinagate and related Clinton-Gore scandals."

Michaelis said he expects House Judiciary Chairman Henry Hyde will find the information in the report useful, because of the thoroughness of the investigations. He said Independent Counsel Ken Starr has often requested Judicial Watch evidence.

House Judiciary Committee Spokesperson Michelle Morgan told CNS, Rep. Hyde (R-IL) would reserve any judgement on the Judicial Watch report. In a statement before the media today, Hyde announced the committee will be moving another step forward in its impeachment inquiry against the President. Hyde said the Committee will meet next Monday in open session to consider a resolution of inquiry. "The question facing the Committee is quite simple: Do the allegations against the President merit further investigation? That's the issue," Hyde said.

Hyde also announced a bipartisan legal team from the Judiciary Committee will meet with Starr's office to determine if there is more evidence to be reported to the committee.

Asked if Klayman and Judicial Watch expected any retaliation as a result of its report, Michaelis told CNS said he expects some type of reaction but did not predict what that would be. "We know what the White House reaction has been against anyone who's been critical of the administration before," Michaelis said.
